Everything is loud

They are all talking,

But I have no idea what they are saying.

Slow down

Please, turn around

What was that?

I don’t understand!

The roar moves in waves

I am alone in a sea of voices.

That was way too fast

Why didn’t I practice my signing more?

Slow down,

Sorry, I’m a lazy signer,

I’m out of practice.

This is part of my life now,

Why do I feel so alone?

 

Alone

No matter where I go I feel out of place.

I am not hearing,

Yet, I do not feel deaf enough. 

Am I a part of the hearing community?

Am I a part of the deaf community?

Do I fit in either?

Where do I belong?
